Below are the types of programs you could be running in your business:

REACTIVE PROGRAM
“We repair it after it breaks.”

With this type of system in place, a company runs the risk of catastrophic loss. With few to no preventative measures, this system costs a company the highest amount of money, runs the risk of high costs due to employee overtime, and will surely endure increased downtime.

PLANNED PROGRAM
“We repair it before it breaks.”

Slightly better than the reactive program, a planned program reduces cost through planned, scheduled downtime and coordinated efforts. However, they are not taking advantage of cost-saving and optimization strategies.

INTRINSIC RELIABILITY PROGRAM
“Don’t repair it! Eliminate the root cause of the problem.”

Moving up in the hierarchy, this program reduces costs through predictive maintenance and defect elimination. However, it is driven solely by understanding the root cause of problems they know about. It does not address issues they have yet to discover.

WORLD CLASS LUBRICATION MAINTENANCE PROGRAM
“Asset Optimization”

Through this high level program, companies experience the lowest total cost of ownership through vision alignment across departments, overall optimizations, full integration, supplier partnerships and culture transformation.
